Free…If You Dare

Here in California, we have a bulky item trash removal service which locals have coined “Big Trash Day”. The problem with this “Big Trash Day” is that it isn’t widely publicized and happens infrequently. In the times between, it is very common for folks to put out their unwanted, but still usable, items out by the side of the road with a sign that simply says “FREE”. Normally, it takes no time for someone to come by and grab whatever items are left out.

Last night I spotted an oversized and outdated chair in my neighborhood with a giant ‘free’ sign and thought “Ew.” You know maybe it was clean but after learning about the bed bug outbreak in New York City, it just gave me the creeps.

But it did give me an idea. My daughter and I just cleaned out her room and since tomorrow is Halloween, I thought of a different sign to put on our roadside giveaways…

Can’t wait to see who dares to grab our freebies.

Update (4:04 PM PST): the Haunted boat framed art is gone, along with its sign. I did not see who will spend eternity being haunted by it.

This time the Dames aux Gateaux hit The Fat Lady in Oakland’s Jack London Square for some pre-Halloween fun! The restaurant was all dolled up for Halloween (just like the discreet Dames).
